Updates to Music 17–22 March, 2009

Irish Instruments has been expanded from a nub to an full article that might make your eyes cross. I’m most excited about the concertina bit — I found a brilliant resource for that one, Notes on the Beginnings of Concertina Playing in Ireland, 1834–1930, by Dan Worrall. Fascinating!

I’ve spent about ten or so hours over the past few months researching the names of our solo set dances, the stories behind them and when they were written. Phew! It feels good to be finished with that one, even though I couldn’t find information on every tune.

As part of the latest rehaul, I also added a new list of solo set dances to the Music section, which includes tempo, speed and links to sheet music. If you haven’t checked that out already, be sure to do so. I hope it’s helpful.

And again, note the new Opportunities section, which will list anything that I come across or is sent to me. (Hint, let me know if you come across anything.)

I hope everyone enjoyed Saint Patrick’s Day and is having a great Irish-American Heritage Month. ;)
